Aspiring Melaka Geopark was established to conserve and promote the geological heritage, biodiversity, archaeological heritage, and cultural heritage of the State of Melaka. Through an integrated geotourism approach, the initiative aims to create sustainable economic opportunities while protecting the state's unique natural and cultural assets.
The development of Aspiring Melaka Geopark is guided by the guidelines of the Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia (JMG) and the National Geopark evaluation criteria, supporting Melaka's aspiration to be recognised as a National Geopark.

+ Achieve recognition of Melaka Geopark as Malaysia's 12th National Geopark.
+ Identify, evaluate, document and manage geological, biological, archaeological and cultural heritage sites through a systematic geopark inventory.

Melaka Geopark possesses geological features of international scientific significance due to its unique tectonic setting and geological history.
Key scientific values include:
+ Evidence of the final collision between the Sibumasu Terrane and the East Malaya Block, which occurred approximately 220–200 million years ago.
+ The southernmost extension of the Bentong–Raub Suture Zone, one of Peninsular Malaysia's most significant geological structures.
+ A diverse collection of geological formations that record the tectonic evolution of the Malay Peninsula and contribute to regional and international geoscientific research.
