A geopark is a single, unified geographical area where sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed under a holistic concept of protection, education, and sustainable development, alongside the area's biodiversity and cultural heritage.

The proposed geosites are spread across the districts of Jasin, Alor Gajah, and Melaka Tengah, covering an area of approximately 1,713 km² that includes both mainland sites and offshore islands such as Pulau Besar, Pulau Undan, and Pulau Upeh.

Most geosites are publicly accessible with no entrance fee, though some may require boat transport (for island sites) or have parking charges. Please check individual geosite pages or contact us for the latest information.

Independent visits are possible depending on the island and boat availability, but we recommend arranging transport with a registered boat operator or certified geoguide in advance, as schedules and sea conditions can affect access.

The dry season, generally between February and September, offers the most comfortable conditions for outdoor exploration and boat crossings to the islands. Visits during the monsoon season (November to March) may be affected by rough seas and rain.

Many geosites are family-friendly with relatively easy access, while others involve uneven terrain, hiking, or boat travel that may be more challenging. We recommend checking each geosite's access details or asking a geoguide before planning your visit.

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, drinking water, insect repellent, and a raincoat. For island sites, bring extra sun protection and check with your boat operator about life jackets and tide timings.
